The result -- an incredible photoshoot of portraits with the oh-so-talented Phillip Matarrese. Taken in our hometown of Alameda, California, this shoot was the first professional, non-editorial shoot for my brand. And as it turns out -- the combination of preparing for this shoot and navigating a few personal challenges at that particular time resulted in me leaving the shoot with a sense of empowerment, maturity, and confidence to step into the role of becoming the woman I am supposed to become.
What's more -- I made sure to wear three of my favorite pieces of my paternal grandmother's jewelry (the round pendant necklace and two cocktail rings). My dad often mentions how strong, determined, fashionable, and powerful she was. And that if she were still with us, she and I would undoubtedly be close. And the I remind him of her.
So, Phill - thank you for capturing the essence of both me and my brand. And for capturing the strength, personality and tenacity that was passed down to me by my grandma. I am so proud of this project, and look forward to working together in the future.
